The Belt of Truth

The KJV will say ‘having girded your loins with truth’. While this doesn’t make much sense today, this was a reference to pulling up the garments worn (in this time period long, flowing robes) in order to wrap them through your legs and around your body. It protects the crotch area, one of the most tender parts of the anatomy.

Why does Paul use this here? I cannot say. What I DO know is we are today under attack at this location by lies, the most vulnerable part of our anatomy. For today we are told ‘gender is fluid’, you can be who you want to be, be any sex, have a relationship with any sex, at any age. And the ‘adults’ in charge will even teach you how to do it ‘safely’. It causes confusion for those not grounded in the faith and opens us up to all sorts of lies. It is, in my opinion one of the major sources of attack on a spiritual level today. God made it very plain that He made them male and female. That marriage is between one man and one woman. That sex outside of marriage is wrong. All things that today we are told ‘that doesn’t mean what it says’. To determine that we can change and do as we see fit. That we know better. That God has made big mistakes WE can correct. Truth is relevant.

Paul warns Timothy that it will just get worse in the ‘last days’. So we look to truth, and seal it within ourselves. We gird our loins with the truth so we avoid the perils of sexual immorality which in today’s culture is just one big lie.

Scripture:

Ephesians 6:14

John 8:44

Genesis 1:27

2 Timothy 3:1

Prayer: Today I ask you, Father to guide my thoughts and deeds, to open my heart to YOUR truth, to see and understand the reality of what I face on a daily basis, even though I might not realize it.
