Day 7-Genesis 2:1-3

For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Romans 11:36

Reading:

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Exodus 20:8-11

Is it easier to just think ‘God created’ rather than ‘one cell became two, two became four and four became an aardvark’? Certainly. And instead of trying to figure out which came first-the chicken or the tyrannosaurus rex, we can spend our time marveling not at the ‘origins of the species’, but the vast ‘differences of the species’. Then, as Job says, we can see the hand of God in all these things. So today, the day God gave us to rest is a day for contemplation. To consider all the vastness of His great majesty and power and might.

Scriptural Concepts:

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
Colossians 2:16-17

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

Revelation 5:13
