Meekness.
Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Being meek can have many meanings. But here Jesus is telling us to be content. To not get in a hurry, but to wait. Wait and do what we are supposed to do.
Wait for what? Waiting is not in our DNA. We want it and we want it NOW. But if we stop, we would realize that this is NOT our ‘best life now’ but rather we have a home-a REAL home-with Him in the future. Meanwhile, though, we quietly got about our Father’s business and wait. Paul talks a lot about this not being our ‘home’, but He never stopped working. He realized the need to go and do, not sit around and say ‘My Father has a big, big house so I don’t have to listen to you guys!’. He worked knowing that this wasn’t his ‘home’, but he did have to live here.
God told Judah in the book of Jeremiah that they were going into exile as punishment. But He ALOS said that they were to go and live where He sent them. To quietly go about their lives planting and building and living. Because in the end, our home is with Him. And since He is the creator of the universe, that really IS a ‘big, big house’!

Prayer: Grant me a heart of humbleness, Lord. A heart that continues to work for You as it also longs for You. Help me to be seen not as proud or boastful of what you have promised, but as one who will do their best to make a life here that is both honoring to You and a shining example of Your Kingdom, always remembering it is You, and not me.
