Why we need armor
Paul, when writing to the believers in Ephesus will spend a bit of time delving into something that we, 21st century 1st Work American Christians rarely think about-that we are surrounded by invisible creatures that are both sent to protect us (we LOVE our ‘Guardian Angels) but also ones that wish to harm us (but we don’t think about the FALLEN angels). Throughout scripture we are told to ‘flee the Devil’, Christ cast out multiple demons, we are introduced to ‘Princes of the Air’, Michael was stopped by a strong demon, etc. etc. Enough that if we really believe scripture is the Word of God, that we need to take the admonition Paul states seriously: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against he authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm”.
Over the next 7 days we will look at Paul’s outline of how to prepare ourselves FOR this battle that rages around us. A battle that will get worse and worse as their power comes to a close and Christ returns to ‘settle the score’.
Scripture:
Ephesians 6:11-13
John 17:17
Prayer: Guide us on our journey, Father. Open our hearts and minds to YOUR word so that we are prepared with the full armor of scripture to battle things both seen and unseen.
